PROJECT INFORMATION
capacity
Summerfield is a four-hour 240MW / 960 MWh battery.
Location
Near Mannum in South Australia, approximately 20km from the Tungkillo switching station.
Size
222 battery containers over one hectare of land.
Benefits
Powering 70,000 or nearly 10% of South Australian homes every day.
In collaboration with Canadian Solar
We have selected Canadian Solar and its subsidiary e-STORAGE as our trusted construction partner for this project. e-STORAGE is a leader in designing, manufacturing, and integrating large-scale battery energy storage systems.
e-STORAGE will deliver its advanced SolBank 3.0 battery energy storage system, ensuring integration, commissioning, and long-term operational support. Leveraging its extensive global experience and top-tier technical capabilities, e-STORAGE is well positioned to unlock the full potential of battery storage, contributing to South Australia's renewable energy goals.
Supporting renewable energy
The Summerfield Battery will support South Australia’s clean energy ambitions by storing more affordable renewable energy when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, and releasing it into the grid when it is needed most.
The project will also allow South Australia to export more renewable energy to Victoria and New South Wales via the planned interconnector.
Delivering for South Australia
Further enabling South Australia’s rapid clean energy transition
Storing energy during low demand periods
Releasing energy during high demand periods
Exporting renewable energy interstate
Enabling more cheap large-scale wind and solar projects
Helping to avoid blackouts and the associated community impacts and costs
Maintaining grid stability
Delivering more affordable and reliable power
A portion of proceeds from the project go directly to local communities initiatives
