Service locating – intersection of Mannum Road and Tepko Road, Tepko SA

The Summerfield Battery is a large-scale battery energy storage system project that will provide much needed backup power and grid stability. Construction of the project is expected to commence in late 2024.

Works to upgrade the intersection of Mannum Road and Tepko Road will be completed in the early stages of construction of the Summerfield Battery, to facilitate large delivery vehicles. In planning for these works, investigation works will be undertaken to map the locations of underground services.

What investigation works will involve

  • Potholing will be undertaken in approximately 14 locations around the intersection to locate underground services

  • This will involve use of ground penetrating radar and a non-destructive digging (NDD) truck. Use of the NDD truck may involve brief periods of elevated noise

  • Road access will be maintained during works in all directions. Traffic controllers and signage will be in place to direct traffic around work areas

  • The road surface will be reinstated once work is complete

  • More information will be provided before intersection upgrade or other Summerfield Battery construction activities start.

When it will be completed

  • These activities are expected to take 1 – 2 days between 16 and 21 September 2024

  • Work hours are between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
